Founded by Domenico Meroi, this family estate in Buttrio, Friuli Colli Orientali, is now guided by his great-grandson Paolo Meroi. Paolo continues the family’s tradition while adding his own mark, including the acquisition of the historic Zitelle vineyard in 2004.
Meroi farms a small patchwork of vineyards rooted in Friuli’s iconic ponca soil—a mix of marl and sandstone that gives wines remarkable minerality and depth. In the cellar, all wines are fermented and aged in well-seasoned barrels, a choice that highlights vineyard character over oak influence. Instead of relying on chemicals, the family promotes natural biodiversity, encouraging the balance of beneficial insects in the vineyard.
Meroi’s wines, crafted in limited quantities, are pure expressions of Friuli: textured, precise, and deeply tied to their terroir.
