The Rossi Chauvenet family has owned Massimago, a historic cru in Mezzane di Sotto, since 1883. In 2003, Camilla Rossi Chauvenet took over the estate and transformed it into a modern winery, introducing estate-bottled Valpolicella, Ripasso, and Amarone while converting the vineyards to EU-certified organic farming by 2011.
Today, Massimago’s 16 acres of vineyards (within a larger 74-acre property) lie on terraced slopes between 328 and 1,312 feet above sea level. The vines, averaging over 25 years, grow on limestone- and marl-rich soils, producing elegant, expressive wines that combine the traditions of Valpolicella with Camilla’s fresh, contemporary vision.
