Tenuta Terraviva is a family-owned winery nestled in the hills of Tortoreto in Colline Teramane, northern Abruzzo, less than a mile from the Adriatic Sea. The estate’s vineyards were first purchased in the 1970s by Federica’s grandfather, Mario. Initially, grapes were sold to other producers, but in 2008 the family began making their own wines, focusing on single-vineyard and single-varietal expressions of indigenous varieties, all fermented with native yeasts.
Old plantings of Trebbiano, Passerina, Pecorino, and Montepulciano are trained in the traditional pergola system. The wines are defined by minerality and salinity, a direct reflection of the estate’s unique terroir. Certified organic since 1998 and incorporating biodynamic practices since 2020, Tenuta Terraviva combines tradition, respect for the land, and careful craftsmanship to produce authentic Abruzzo wines.
