Podere Concori

Wines that echo the history, altitude, and unique soils of Garfagnana

  • Hectares / Altitude: 15 acres / 990-1300 feet above sea level
  • Grape varieties: Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chenin Blanc, and Pinot Blanc
  • Established: 1999
  • Region: Italy, Tuscany
  • Appellation: Toscana IGT

Perched among Tuscany’s highest vineyard sites in the Garfagnana region, Podere Concori revives a long-neglected winemaking tradition. After World War II, the region’s vineyards fell into decline until Gabriele da Prato began restoring them in 1999, combining respect for history with modern viticulture.

The estate’s vineyards feature ancient vines planted on unique sandstone and shale soils, producing wines of depth, elegance, and mineral complexity. Interestingly, several French varietals are considered indigenous to the area, introduced by Napoleon’s sister, Paulina, adding a remarkable historical layer to the wines’ character. Each bottle from Podere Concori reflects the heritage, altitude, and exceptional terroir of this remarkable corner of Tuscany.
