Founded in 1897, Crotin 1897 is a small, family-run winery located in the hidden corner of Monferrato, in the town of Maretto, just a few kilometers from Asti. The Russo brothers now manage the estate, continuing a long tradition of winemaking.

The vineyards cover approximately 12 acres, planted on multilayered soils rich in silt, tufo, clay, and fossils, at an elevation ranging from 885 to 1,300 feet above sea level. This unique terroir produces bright, fresh, and vibrant wines, including Freisa, Grignolino, and the rare Bussanello, a cross between Welschriesling and Furmint, created in the 1930s by Professor Dalmaso at the University of Torino.

Crotin 1897 is dedicated to preserving indigenous Piemontese grape varieties and showcasing the region’s heritage through wines that are expressive, elegant, and uniquely Monferrato.
