Poggetto di Sopra Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG Toscana

The Poggetto di Sopra is an intense, vivid red colour, bright scarlet. The nose is an explosion of aromas, unfolding in a complex varietal bouquet where the sweetness of ripe strawberry intertwines with elegant notes of violet. The bouquet is enriched by wild nuances of Mediterranean scrub and undergrowth, lending a distinctive and refined character. On the palate, the palate entry is full and juicy, capable of enveloping the sip with a sweet and vibrant drive that immediately invites another taste. The structure is imposing, supported by dense and deep tannins, mature and of excellent craftsmanship. The finish, of great finesse, and the authoritative final progression through retronasal olfaction ensure a radiant future in the bottle.

  • Vinification

25-28 days of maceration at controlled temperature. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out by the yeasts selected from our pied de cuve.
A dedicated pied de cuve (yeast starter) is prepared for each lot. Before being used, it is closely monitored to verify its fermentative capacity and check for any potential deviations or microbiological contamination. The goal is to guide the start of fermentation without resorting to selected commercial yeasts,
thereby preserving the fundamental bond between the wine and the grapes from which it is born.

  • Soil

Sedimentary of marine origin from the Pliocene era (3–5 million years ago). Pliocene soils are characterised by the absence of skeleton, the presence of active lime, low organic matter content, and a moderate sodium content. Their depth is linked to the presence of a vein of grey-blue clay, locally known as “mattaione”. The texture may vary from clayey to silty-clayey in more compact soils, to sandy-clayey in looser soils.
